Star Wars: The Force Unleashed puts you in the shoes of
Starkiller,
Darth Vader's secret apprentice, in a story that takes place
between episode III: Revenge of the
Sith
and episode IV: A New Hope. As
Starkiller
you are sent out by Lord Vader to seek out and kill the remaining
Jedi after the clone wars, as you can tell this game is a
StarWars
fanboy
dream, as it fill the hole between both trilogies. As you play the
game you use the power of the force as you have never seen it
before, but where the game shines you may consider it its
downfall. Now wait before you get all mad at me i did enjoy
playing the game destroying
tiefighters and
atst's
with the force and sending a storm trooper 300 yards across a map,
but the game strays away from this too much allowing you to kill
almost every enemy with the same basic
lightsaber
attack. The game does have a points leveling system to help
improve
lightsaber attacks and force abilities but like i said its
not really needed because you kill almost every one with the same
attack.
A big plus for this game is the game's story , as stated earlier
you are
Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice. The Clone Wars
have ended, and Vader sends you to kill the last of the remaining
Jedi. The story contains many twists, brings back many faces from
the Star
Wars universe (both dark and light), and is both explosive
and remarkably intimate. You'll get to talk to Lord Vader but
Starkiller will be with PROXY (His android) and his female
pilot, Juno Eclipse for the majority of the game. And even though
you are on the dark side you will start to love being
starkiller and doing the things he does.
As you keep playing the games gets a bit repetitive as keep
killing the same enemy's until you get to a boss battle where you
figure out how to hurt him and repeat the same methods until he is
defeated, even more so you even start playing the same levels over
as you progress. Also with all the physics the game is a bit
buggy, you can easily get stuck in a wall or run into an invisible
wall. Frame rate drop at points and enemy's disappear right after
you kill them.
With all that being said the game is fun, and isn't that the main
point for a game. You are going to enjoy destroying things with
the force you are going to love punting a
jawa
100 feet into the air, and you are going get immersed in the
game's story no matter what ending you picked. Oh yeah there's two
endings.
So overall I do recommend the game even though it doesn't live up
to the hype, it is still fun to play and I think
Star
Wars and causal fans alike will get a kick out of the
story. Its the best
Star
Wars' action based game in the last 8 years I know that's
not saying much buts its saying something.
